We are extremely proud to share that Alliance Tool Hire has joined the Government’s Kickstart Scheme, providing placement opportunities for young people to learn and develop new skills and gain experience in our industry.
Our reasons for joining…
Here at Alliance, we recognise the need to develop the next generation of mechanics and managers in the tool hire industry, and we are extremely passionate about playing our part in the economic recovery after COVID-19.
Our Kickstarters Samuel, Byron and Lilly are working across our different depots here in the South East and West, assisting our depot managers and delivering for our customers. There is a mixture of counter assistant and mechanic roles. So, having this additional capacity will help our depots continue to grow and provide our managers with greater opportunities to develop new business.
Why is this scheme important for Alliance?
Through this scheme and from the support from our Kickstarters, we can provide an even better service to our customers. Many of our managers entered this industry through similar schemes, so we know this is an effective way to develop talent. We are initially giving them exposure to all areas of work to ultimately help them find the areas that interest them the most.
As our depot teams are relatively small, our new team members will greatly benefit from the 1-1 and on-the-job coaching from different team members. As we reflect on this past month, we have been really impressed by the enthusiasm and proactivity of the Kickstarters and their appetite to learn. While these are 6-month placements, we hope they can stay on longer and grow within the Alliance team.

1) How are you finding your experience at Alliance? Tell us what it has been like working alongside the team and meeting customers.
"The team is friendly and easy to work with and I'm enjoying the work a lot. The customers are also friendly and respectful".

2) What have you learnt so far, professionally and personally?
"I now have a great understanding and knowledge about several aspects of this industry, such as electrics, the equipment I am working with and health and safety procedures".
"I have learnt how to produce new contracts and a lot about off-hire equipment".
3) What has been the best thing about your experience so far?
"I have thoroughly enjoyed learning how the machinery itself and how the tools all work".
"I like how every day is different and being able to travel around the area to meet new customers".
4) What is it about Alliance and the industry that stands out to you?
"What stands out to me is that the work being conducted at Alliance is held to such a high standard. The team members are also all so friendly".
