How long have you worked at Alliance Tool Hire and how did you end up in your current role?
I joined last month, in January 2022. I’d had many successes in my previous employment but following a restructure of the company, I saw this as a good opportunity to try something new and take on a different challenge. I knew Mark Russell, Alliance’s Operations Manager, from a previous job. When he offered me the opportunity to set up the new Depot in Gatwick, I simply couldn’t resist!
What gets you ready and raring to go in the morning?
A busy, well-planned day. Thankfully, I’m a morning person, so early starts are no issue for me.
What are your proudest achievements in your professional and personal life?
Personal: Without doubt, my biggest personal achievement is my family. I’m very happily married and have a son, daughter and a stepson who are all in their twenties. I’m extremely proud of all three children who, whilst having very different personalities, have all developed into strong, independent adults with a shared (slightly warped!) sense of humour.
Professionally: I’ve used my experience to successfully develop a number of underperforming Depots, and managed the teams and maintained the profits of top performing Depots. I’m particularly proud of an expansion plan that I identified and was given permission to implement, which later resulted in a significant increase in turnover and profit within a very short timescale.
What does a perfect Saturday night look like for you?
A good restaurant usually features for my wife Helen and I. We like to try new places, particularly riverside venues, and often spend the evening in the City or West End.
Tell us three things about your role that you want your customers to know.
1. I’m highly experienced and understand how important reliability, trust and the ability to deliver is for our customers.
2. I have extensive knowledge of our tools and their application; I’ll always ensure our customers get the right tool for a specific task.
3. I’m positive and I like to create a work environment that reflects that whilst building excellent customer relations and trust
If you could invite anyone to dinner, who would it be and why?
As an original Crazy Gang (Wimbledon FC) supporter, I’d most like to invite Vinnie Jones. I’m sure he’d have many behind-the-scenes stories to tell from his time at the Club, and I’d love to hear about his more recent Hollywood experiences too.
