We’re pleased to welcome Bill Fender to Alliance Tool Hire. Bill brings a straightforward approach built on reliability, relationship-building and making sure customers get the right equipment on time. He’s already out meeting clients, supporting projects and helping teams stay on programme - and he’s a big believer in the “one team” culture that sets Alliance apart.
What attracted you to join Alliance Tool Hire, and what excites you most about your role?
I’d always heard great things from clients about Alliance, and I can now see why. It’s exciting to join an ambitious business that always puts the customer first.
Tell us a bit about your background - how did you get started in the hire/construction industry?
After managing a bookies in Central London, it was an obvious choice to join the hire industry ? I started out at HSS, where many others did, as a fast-track branch manager. I soon found the love for supporting customers by providing the right tools to get the job done on time.
What does a typical day look like for you - if there is such a thing?
One thing I love about this industry is that each day is different! Ideally, I like a packed day of face-to-face appointments, meeting clients both old and new, building relationships and providing solutions.
What’s the most rewarding part of your job so far?
Providing an honest, reliable service.
What makes Alliance different to other hire companies you’ve worked with or come across?
The ‘one team’ culture. Everyone is working towards the same goal of delighting our customers.
What are the most common challenges you hear from site managers?
Site managers have a tough job to do daily, delays on equipment delivery can seriously affect the programme. Reliability from suppliers is key.
What do you wish more people knew about Alliance Tool Hire?
That we have a lifting division and can provide inspections on site for customers own lifting equipment.
Favourite way to switch off after a long week?
An ice-cold beer, or two ?
Quick Fire
- Tea or coffee? Strong, builders tea
- Ketchup or HP Sauce? Depends on my mood!
- Bacon roll or sausage bap? I’d usually have both
- Best office biscuit? Not really a biscuit man. I’ll generally eat whatever I’m offered.
